I am a little behind in my blogging and since this is our family record too, here goes a quick snapshot of what we have been up to for the past week.
Sunday: We spent Easter with my parents and brother. It was a gorgeous day and church was wonderful. Evie enjoyed the Easter egg hunt after church along with lots of sweet treats. My grandmother and aunt came over for lunch and we had to leave to drive back to Nashville. 400 miles with two kids is not easy but our kids sure are good travelers. Evie occupies herself with her toys and movies. Henry was mostly content except when he was hunrgry but that was easy to fix. Everyone passed out when we arrived home.
Monday: After our busy weekend, we decided to stay put at home trying to get back on track with our schedule. Evie and Henry both napped all afternoon which is almost never happens at the same time. Someone always seems to be awake! We took a family walk to the park and noticed a woman in distress. It turns out that she was diabetic and her sugar was low from excervising. She needed something sweet and all had to offer her was a half eaten Fruit Roll-up! I felt horrible but she did not seem to mind that Evie had muchned on it.
Tuesday: Alleulia! Evie went back to school. We were both thrilled and Evie even took a nap at school. That is rare these days at school but it makes for an early bedtime. Henry had his 9 month check up. He weighs 19 pounds and some change which puts him in the 45% and is 28.5 inches long which is the 70%. Some of the baby fat has melted away with all his crawling and cruising. Henry does not make a habit of staying in one place for too long. That boy is a mover!
Wednesday: We had a PJ day and got a few things done around the house. Traveling wears me out between packing for the trip, going on the trip and then getting everything back in it's place. Carl came home for lunch before going to Atlanta for the night. Evie was not thrilled that her Daddy was with her cousins. Promises of watching Cinderella with Mama made it all better. I love that her problems are so easy to fix these days because that will not always be the case. Henry was a fuss bucket all day and woke up from his nap with a fever of 103. It was his first fever so of course it made me worry.
Thursday: Henry woke up fever free and went down for his nap. I took Evie to school and then went to our Stella and Dot party. Be sure to enter our giveaway if you have not already! I walked across the street to get my wallet and Henry was not happy at all with Karen. So, I decided to take him to the doctor after we picked up Evie from school. We spend more time at the pediatricians office than anywhere else in town. Evie stayed calm and content with her princess markers. Henry was not too sure about why we were back at the doctor again. We found out that Henry had hand, foot and mouth disease which sounds a lot worse than it really is but it's not a walk in the park either. He has been fussy, not sleeping and has blisters on his hands, feet and throat.
Friday: We stayed home to keep our germs away from our friends! Evie slept until 5:00 which made me think that she was getting sick too. She woke up in the best little mood so we just kept her up until 8. Carl took her to the park and to pick up a pizza while I tackled our mountain of laundry.
Saturday: Evie woke up with a fever and was so irritable. She starting feeling a little better after she had some medicine. It's sad to see her so sick but she sure is extra snuggly. Evie told me that she wanted to snuggle me all day and that's exactly what she did. She fell asleep on Carl's lap and then took a nap with me in my bed. That's never happened, she's too wild for that on a normal day but it sure was sweet. Henry took two good naps so we thought that he was feeling better.
Sunday: Lots of crying and awake time in the night for Henry and Mama. Evie slept fine and woke up mostly back to normal. We skipped church since neither kid could go to the nursery. I felt badly because on Facebook, our minister wrote that the Sunday after Easter is 'low' Sunday because the attendance is always down after Easter. Henry napped and then we went to Target for our big outing of the weekend. The Easter Bunny was unable to find a tricycle for Evie but we found one this morning. It was on sale for almost nothing and it was pink! Of course, Evie was thrilled and has had a ball riding it all day. I took her on a long ride and then Carl took her for another one. Best part, is that it wears her out which makes naptime and bedtime a piece of cake.
You are 9 months old and still just the most delightful baby boy. It has been so fun having a baby again. Daddy and I marvel as you change and grow faster than we ever thought possible. Time has a funny way of passing too quickly especially when you are trying hard to slow it down. You are a plump baby with lots of rolls and I just love it. Fat babies are extra snuggly and you are one snuggly baby. We love to hear you laugh and giggle. You have such a pleasant disposition always passing out smiles.
You will still go to most anyone but you are beginning to have a bit of stranger anxiety when someone catches you by surprise. You weigh about 19 pounds and wear a size 4 diaper. Most of your clothes are 12 months. One piece outfits are easiest because you crawl away in the middle of diaper changes and wardrobe switches. You have a lot of wardrobe changes because you are a messy eater. Eating is one of your favorite activities and you are perfectly content to hang out in your highchair munching away. You eat so many different foods; much more of a variety than Evie did at this age. You have more teeth now than she did at 16 months so she was unable to chow down as early. Some of your favorite foods are pasta, bagels, plums and baby goldfish.
Sleep is all over the place from sleeping 12 hours straight to waking up multiple times per night. Your schedule is pretty loose because you are a second child and you are one relaxed baby boy. Even without a nap, you are quite pleasant, ready to go with the flow. Evie and I are not the happiest people when we are tired but you are like your Daddy still happy even when you are exhausted. Morning nap starts around 9 and then you take an afternoon nap around 1:30. Bedtime is early these days around 6:30. You wake up between 7 and 8 except when you are growing teeth. Those teeth must really hurt coming in because they change everything!
It's so fun to see you crawling and pulling up on anything you can find. You are even cruising a bit which means before you know it, you will be off and away! Evie really wants you to walk because she wants you to chase her. You have started playing much more with sister. She is bossy and you are as a mellow as can be. Evie covers you with blankets to hide you, hugs you so hard that it must hurt and protects you from everything that she can. Sometimes, when you cry, she will say,"don't worry Mama, he did it himself." She wants to make sure that she is not blamed for anything that she was not responsible for but Evie does comfort you when you take a tumble. She''' say, "It's okay, Henry. Evie's here. You okay. I kiss it. Make it feel it better." Henry, it seems like you get yourself in some predicaments such as taking cookies from the pantry, pulling down lamps and even barricading yourself in the cabinet. You are a busy boy!
You are our special baby boy and we love you so much. It's hard to believe that you have been part of our family for 9 months because in lots of ways, it seems like you have always been here. I had forgotten how much babies change in just a few months. It's hard to believe that you were just a tiny baby just 9 short months ago.
Can't wait to see what you have planned for us this month.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy (I'll post some pictures when we get back to TN.)
It was a warm weekend! I have to keep reminding myself that it's really just early spring with these temperatures.
Evie was excited to see her grandparents when they arrived late on Friday. She went to bed way past her bedtime yet still woke up around 7. That always surprises me. Henry had a rough weekend with his sleep. We are not sure what is going on with him. Maybe teeth or his constipation issues? That's the hard part about a baby, they cannot communicate the problem.
Carl took Evie and his parents to the Farmer's Market and they piddled around town a bit. Henry stayed home to nap. They brought home some barbecue for lunch including some ribs that were pretty good. Carl thought they had a teriykaki flavor. I ran out to do a little Easter shopping during nap time.
Carl took Evie swimming and his mom went to watch Evie in the pool. Basketball was the word of the weekend. We watched lots of basketball! Carl grilled chicken for dinner and it was yummy.
Henry was not up to going to the nursery so I stayed home with him while everyone else went to church. It was so nice to have a quiet house! Evie had a ball. She came home with a fruit and yogurt parfait for herself and a Starbucks Frappachino for me.
Evie was so excited with her Easter treat from She She and Poppy. They gave her a dress for her Bitty Baby and a matching dress for herself. It's a cute little dress. Evie spent nap time taking care of her baby but she does fine without a nap these days. Although, I will keep putting her down for as long as I can get her to rest. Henry liked his alligator a lot too. Poppy and She She were so sweet to give such fun gifts for Easter.
We had a little Easter egg hunt in the backyard and played outside for a bit. Evie loves to play with her "zippy." Frisbees are pretty fun and so easy to take along which makes them great entertainment for Evie.
We had pizza for dinner and the kiddos went to bed early. That's the best part about days without naps, bedtime comes super early! We watched the ACM's before calling it a night.
I have been married for 10 adventurous and amazing years to the greatest husband ever. I am mommy to a beautiful daughter, Evie and an adorable little boy, Henry. I love quiet time, milk chocolate, fun books, rainy days, glass bottled coke, cooking and all things pink! I loathe cell phones at the table and being late. Follow along with a snippet of our life.
