Weekend Fun!

Hope y'all had a terrific weekend! We sure did enjoy the time together.

Evie hid in her closet to polish off a cookie so Carl did not see her.
Friday: Kristin and her kids came over for our monthly lunch and play date. Evie and Anna play well and Henry gets in the way trying to play with Jacob. It's hard to be 2! Henry took a nice long nap after skipping his nap for 3 days due to school and not being tired on Wednesday. He has been sleeping later lately though so it's a trade-off. We had Chinese on Friday night and our kids thoroughly enjoyed trying out chop-sticks and were surprisingly good with them!

Saturday: I headed to out to run some errands in the rain! It was so nice to get out for a bit. Evie and I left after lunch for a Girl's Trip. She wanted shopping and ice-cream. I can handle that! We went to Downtown Franklin and walked around peeking inside the shops. Sweet Ce-Ce's rounded out our afternoon. Evie selected sparkly nail polish and a little bunny at Five Below. Do you have a Five Below? Everything is less than 5 dollars and Evie thought it was so cool. Lots of stuff that is marketed towards the tween group really lures the girls in to shop. I treasure my special times with just my best girl. She's so fun and was thrilled over the smallest things from parking in the parking garage to riding the "everator." We had dinner at a neighbors house - delicious dinner and fun times. We got home super late and everyone went to bed!

Henry loves playing Barbies with Evie. He just goes about playing pool a little differently!
Sunday: Everyone slept late which is always a treat! We headed to a 40th Birthday this afternoon and it was so much fun. They had a grilled cheese food truck and it was AMAZING!! My sandwich was amazing and I will be hunting this food truck down again soon.  Henry and Evie were just happy to hang out with their little buddies. I had a school meeting this afternoon and Carl held down the fort. It was a gorgeous day. I am so excited for the warm, sunny days on the horizon this week!

Spring Break Fun!

We had a super fun and relaxing spring break last week. It always goes faster than expected but the good news is less than 2 months until summer. Spring Break Summary . . .

Nana and Ipop's: We traveled to North Carolina to visit my parents. It was perfect timing because it was my Mom's birthday. Evie loved singing Happy Birthday and eating cupcakes. Carl and I went with my Mom to my grandmothers house to look at some things for us to keep. Evie caught on real fast that if we asked sweetly and mentioned it would her remember Mamaw that she could get lots of stuff. Evie has had a ball playing with the Barbies and tea set that she scored last week. Henry is getting some twin beds and I selected some jewelry. It was a bittersweet time - lots of memories in that house and it always makes me sad to think of my own parents getting older too. On a happier note, we went to the park with Evie's friend Maddie and went to visit some friends. On Sunday, we went to church. Evie chose to stay in the nursery with Henry because it was super fun with lots of cool toys. Uncle Ben and Mary Devyn picked up some cotton candy for an after church treat.

She She and Poppy's: On Sunday, we headed to South Carolina to see Carl's parents. Henry spent most of the visit longing for a boat ride but it was not boat weather. We went for milkshakes which is always a treat. St. Patrick's Day was spent eating traditional fare with Carl's mom's cousin and his wife. That was fun and I was proud of Evie for trying unfamiliar food. It was a very nice visit.

Home Base: We returned to Nashville on Tuesday and spent a few days adjusting. Henry was way off schedule and needed some sleep coaching. We stayed home Wednesday and unpacked a bit. Evie enjoyed an indoor picnic since it was super windy.

Adventure Day: Thursday was a BIG adventure day. I took the kids to Opry Mills Mall and we spent 4 hours there. That's a first! We shopped, went out to lunch at Chuy's, rode the train and carousel, and played at the playspace. After our mall adventure, Henry passed out in the car and we headed to Trader Joe's for some essentials and then played at a nearby park that we adore.

Dentist: Henry had his first dental appointment. Both kids are cavity free! Dr. Ryan did an amazing job and everyone had a terrific experience. Henry watched Evie go first and then he climbed right into the chair and opened wide. Evie went back for her x-rays and Henry was quite concerned about his sister. He kept asking, "where my Evie go?" Henry was relieved when Evie returned!

Zoo: On Saturday, we headed to the Nashville Zoo. Both kids had a blast and Henry said hello to every.single.animal that we came across. Evie's favorite animal was the flamingo exhibit and Henry favored the monkeys. What a fun morning together!

Friends: We enjoyed time together with friends a few times last week too! Impromptu playdates are always fun.  Go Bananas is the newest play spot in town and it was a great place to spend the morning. We had the Onello's over for dinner on Saturday. Evie and Abby are beyond precious together and have so much fun playing together.

Spring Break was a hit! I enjoyed lots of time with my children without a schedule or time table but it's time to get back on track. Sweet Memories with my family!

Lately!

Blogging is always in the back seat these days. I asked Carl the other day how I used to blog every single day. He replied that we only had one kid and he had a normal job that did not involve travel or late nights. Yes, I agree - that has to explain it!  Here's a snapshot of our days lately to help me get back on track.

Lots of life has been going here - just not much photographic evidence. We have been spending hours playing outside in the yard and at the park. I went to read to Evie's class last week for Read Across America week and it was so fun. We had a birthday party for both of her teachers and of course she has been enjoying the regular birthday circuit around here with everyone turning 5 too.

Carl and I went to Yellow Porch for dinner which is always a treat and enjoyed some time without our children.

We went out to lunch and to Stones River Battleground on Sunday. I was not expecting the children to enjoy this but they loved the cannons and are still talking about them. Evie asked lots of hard questions about war - yikes! She can really think beyond her years. Let's be honest - she asks me questions that I have never even thought about. Henry was just happy to sit on the cannons and say "boom."

Lately!

Time sure does keep ticking! Another week has gone away and here we are again although I have practically nothing to report.

It's a snow day in Nashville and we actually have some snow and ice this time. Roads are getting better but we are staying put. I just ordered diapers off Amazon and Carl went to the grocery yesterday for our other essentials. It's only lunch time and we have already made foam dough, painted with straws, painted with milk, painted with brushes, played hide and seek, read books, snacked on doughnuts, watched too much TV and now everyone is resting!

We have all been a little under the weather - pink eye, strep, colds and fevers.  Just the winter yuck that will hopefully go away this month. I am thrilled that March is finally here! YAY for tulips, longer days, sunshine and spring break - all coming our way.

Since we have all been a little under the weather, not much has been going on. I did get a quick trip to the salon for a cut and color. That always perks me right up. Evie noticed my gray here that morning and asked me if my hair was turning blonde like her. Not quite, my dear!

We headed out to a Mardi Gras party on Saturday with our small group! It was really fun while it lasted. Amazing jambalaya, a roaring fire outside, delicious appetizers, wine, King cake and of course wonderful friends. One little girl became violently ill during dinner. Poor thing - it did not phase anyone since we are all parents but I felt so bad for the hosts since they were also the parents of the sick one.  Carl and I decided to quickly finish dinner and get the heck out of there. That's what I would have wanted at my house. Henry and I both got sick that night and Sunday but are all better now.

I am expecting another snow day tomorrow! We have a birthday party on Friday to look forward to and spring break starts next Friday. March always shapes up to be a fun month!

Happy Monday to everyone!
