Life with two kids is crazy so blogging is definitely on the back burner these days! Here is a snap shot of our life lately.

9 Months

Dear Sweet Henry,

You are 9 months old and still just the most delightful baby boy. It has been so fun having a baby again. Daddy and I marvel as you change and grow faster than we ever thought possible. Time has a funny way of passing too quickly especially when you are trying hard to slow it down. You are a plump baby with lots of rolls and I just love it. Fat babies are extra snuggly and you are one snuggly baby. We love to hear you laugh and giggle. You have such a pleasant disposition always passing out smiles.

You will still go to most anyone but you are beginning to have a bit of stranger anxiety when someone catches you by surprise. You weigh about 19 pounds and wear a size 4 diaper. Most of your clothes are 12 months. One piece outfits are easiest because you crawl away in the middle of diaper changes and wardrobe switches. You have a lot of wardrobe changes because you are a messy eater. Eating is one of your favorite activities and you are perfectly content to hang out in your highchair munching away. You eat so many different foods; much more of a variety than Evie did at this age. You have more teeth now than she did at 16 months so she was unable to chow down as early. Some of your favorite foods are pasta, bagels, plums and baby goldfish.

Sleep is all over the place from sleeping 12 hours straight to waking up multiple times per night. Your schedule is pretty loose because you are a second child and you are one relaxed baby boy. Even without a nap, you are quite pleasant, ready to go with the flow. Evie and I are not the happiest people when we are tired but you are like your Daddy still happy even when you are exhausted. Morning nap starts around 9 and then you take an afternoon nap around 1:30. Bedtime is early these days around 6:30. You wake up between 7 and 8 except when you are growing teeth. Those teeth must really hurt coming in because they change everything!

It's so fun to see you crawling and pulling up on anything you can find. You are even cruising a bit which means before you know it, you will be off and away! Evie really wants you to walk because she wants you to chase her. You have started playing much more with sister. She is bossy and you are as a mellow as can be. Evie covers you with blankets to hide you, hugs you so hard that it must hurt and protects you from everything that she can. Sometimes, when you cry, she will say,"don't worry Mama, he did it himself." She wants to make sure that she is not blamed for anything that she was not responsible for but Evie does comfort you when you take a tumble. She''' say, "It's okay, Henry. Evie's here. You okay. I kiss it. Make it feel it better." Henry, it seems like you get yourself in some predicaments such as taking cookies from the pantry, pulling down lamps and even barricading yourself in the cabinet. You are a busy boy!

You are our special baby boy and we love you so much. It's hard to believe that you have been part of our family for 9 months because in lots of ways, it seems like you have always been here. I had forgotten how much babies change in just a few months. It's hard to believe that you were just a tiny baby just 9 short months ago.

Can't wait to see what you have planned for us this month.

Love,

Mommy and Daddy
(I'll post some pictures when we get back to TN.)

Weekend Wrap-up!

It was a warm weekend! I have to keep reminding myself that it's really just early spring with these temperatures.

Evie was excited to see her grandparents when they arrived late on Friday. She went to bed way past her bedtime yet still woke up around 7. That always surprises me. Henry had a rough weekend with his sleep. We are not sure what is going on with him. Maybe teeth or his constipation issues? That's the hard part about a baby, they cannot communicate the problem.

Carl took Evie and his parents to the Farmer's Market and they piddled around town a bit. Henry stayed home to nap. They brought home some barbecue for lunch including some ribs that were pretty good. Carl thought they had a teriykaki flavor. I ran out to do a little Easter shopping during nap time.

Carl took Evie swimming and his mom went to watch Evie in the pool. Basketball was the word of the weekend. We watched lots of basketball! Carl grilled chicken for dinner and it was yummy.

Henry was not up to going to the nursery so I stayed home with him while everyone else went to church. It was so nice to have a quiet house! Evie had a ball. She came home with a fruit and yogurt parfait for herself and a Starbucks Frappachino for me.

Evie was so excited with her Easter treat from She She and Poppy. They gave her a dress for her Bitty Baby and a matching dress for herself. It's a cute little dress. Evie spent nap time taking care of her baby but she does fine without a nap these days. Although, I will keep putting her down for as long as I can get her to rest. Henry liked his alligator a lot too. Poppy and She She were so sweet to give such fun gifts for Easter.

We had a little Easter egg hunt in the backyard and played outside for a bit. Evie loves to play with her "zippy." Frisbees are pretty fun and so easy to take along which makes them great entertainment for Evie.

We had pizza for dinner and the kiddos went to bed early. That's the best part about days without naps, bedtime comes super early! We watched the ACM's before calling it a night.

It was a nice weekend with family!

Week in Review!

I am so glad this week is over! It has been such a busy week, way too busy for me now that I have two kiddos. Between meals for moms, Carl being gone two nights, teacher appreciation week to prepare for and hosting a playdate; that's not even mentioning chasing after Henry who seems way more adventurous than Evie did at this age!  I am looking forward to next week with only one thing on the calendar and then a trip to my parents house for Easter.

Monday: This was the day of the cake and we had a nice morning visiting with friends. Evie enjoyed playing with her friends. I put the kids down for a nap and made dinner for a new family in our MOMS group. Fiesta Chicken is an easy favorite that everyone seems to enjoy plus I made some rolo bars that were really tasty. After we dropped off dinner, it was time for some playtime at Granny White Park. Evie made a friend and Henry enjoyed being outside with the big kids. Carl drove to Indiana and back which was over 600 miles in one day. It was so good to have him back home.

Tuesday: Evie had school and I spent the morning trying to get Henry to sleep. Our neighbors are putting in a pool and it was an extremely loud morning of construction. We met Courtney for lunch at Seaside Grill. One of the moms in our club just opened Seaside with her husband. Courtney and I both had delicious Po Boy's. I was a bit apprehensive about taking Henry in the restaurant without a good nap but he did great. French-fries and crackers kept him happy along with all the friendly waitstaff that gave him tons of attention. We picked up Evie and then played outside.

Wednesday: We went to Nashville to see the bunnies and dropped off dinner at a family from our church's house. They just had a baby boy a few weeks ago and he was so tiny. I miss Henry being that small but I would not want to go through those crazy days again. We took a walk after naps and then Carl got home to mow the grass. He had dinner with a customer but it was good to see him for a bit before we had to leave again.

Thursday: Evie had school and Henry went with me to a lunch for moms from the preschool. It was a Mexican themed lunch and I made a Mexican Spinach dip that was really easy and good. Henry is growing more teeth so we left a little early so he could sleep a little before picking up Evie. Evie and Carl had their Daddy date at Chick Fil A and I enjoyed being in a quiet house.

Friday: We went to the park for a cookie decorating class. It was amazing how good the kids were at using the icing bags and of course Evie thought the pink was the best frosting. I learned how to decorate cookies with fondant. I love this little dinosaur and it was so easy to make. Darla told us that fondant cookies are expensive in bakeries because of the cost of the fondant not the time it takes to make them. I cannot wait to try this at home in my spare time. Everyone napped after our busy morning and then we straightened up the house a bit. Carl's parents will be here shortly to spend the weekend with us. Evie is very excited to see She She and Poppy.

Date with Daddy!

Carl and Evie went to Daddy and Daughter Date Night at CFA tonight. Evie has been excited all week! Everyday, she added a new element, Daddy had to sit next to her in the restaurant. They had to take his truck. She needed to wear a dress. She chose a blue dress for her Daddy because "he like blue - that his favorite. "

Carl said it was so fun and that it was set up really well. They took orders at the tables and had tableclothes. Daughters were treated to up-do's and make-up.

Ice-cream was served for dessert which always makes Evie happy.

They had a blast! I loved going places with my dad when I was a little girl and think it's important to have time with each child individually. Henry was my date for the night but he mostly slept.
