What I'm Loving Wednesday: Lilly Love

It's National Wear Your Lilly Day just in case you have not heard so my post is all about Lilly! My love affair with Lilly began while attending College of Charleston. I still have my first Lilly that my parents bought me at Sak's on King Street. That store is closed now but my Lilly is still hanging in my closet. It's green with orange fish. Pretty bold print for my first Lilly!

I always dreamed of having a little baby girl to dress in Lilly! Evie is my dream come true and she loves Lilly just like her Mama. She requests to wear her Lilly dresses and can even identify a few prints. I was telling Lizzie, my SIL's niece, about Evie's love for Lilly. Lizzie is 14 and made me crack up when she mentioned that she did not quite not quite know about Lilly at age 3. My response was that Evie is wearing her hand-me down Lilly along with hand-me downs from my sweet nieces Mary and Lucy.

Lindsay bought Evie her first Lilly before she was even born. It was a delicate swing top with precious little bloomers. It was a bright reddish pink, blue and white which made it the perfect 4th of July attire for my baby girl. Evie was infatuated with the Lilly Pullitzer store on our vacation to Kiawah. That's my girl!

We've had lots of Lilly come in and out of our house over the last few years. Mama does not buy Lilly for herself anymore but still wears it several times a month. People in Nashville must not love Lilly like all my Carolina Girls because it's rare to see a Lilly dress in town.

That's okay, we will take the opportunity to share our Lilly love.

Here's a few of our favorite Lilly pieces.

These melamine plates are the perfect gift! Evie has two sets that she has received as gifts. Each plate comes with a matching bowl and utensils. I'll take that over another toy any day.

Carl bought Evie a Lilly canteen for Christmas and it's been a real hit around our house. He bought me a water glass and it makes water taste so much better.

We even love our special Lilly animal crackers.

We have Lilly pencils, planners, party guides, note pads and love it all!

Hope you wore your Lilly today!

Trouble!

Sweet little Henry is turning into trouble with a capital T as he nears his first birthday. He thinks all of his antics are just hysterical and I make it so much worse by grabbing my camera to document all of this. We always have empty rolls of toilet paper, our kitchen is covered with stray cheerios, the remote control shows up in the strangest places and let's not forget the chicken tender that turned up in my diaper bag. Boys are sweet but much more adventurous than most little girls. That's saying a lot since Evie was a little explorer herself a few years back. This stage will pass quickly so I am trying to take it in stride clicking pictures of my little guy in action.

Father's Day!

We had a busy day! Henry and Evie slept late which made for a great start to the day. We went to Ihop for breakfast and the pool for an afternoon swim. Happy Father's Day!

Lately . . .

Our computer is back! YEAH, I was lost without it between blogging, email, Pinterest even paying bills. Here's what we have been up to lately!

Ice-cream cones make great teething toys.

YUMMY! Evie's first ice-cream sundae complete with sprinkles, chocolate chips and whipped cream.

Can't believe this is my baby girl! She looks so big!

Evie is so excited to go on a date with her Daddy.

Henry hanging out on Daddy's head.

Henry loves grocery shopping!

7 years of marriage called for a date night!

Our favorite ballerina wanted in the picture too!

Sleeping Henry!

Favorite family activity is getting Henry to walk to us. Evie is especially proud of brother for "walking all by his self." It will not be long and we will have a walker on our hands.

Week in Review

Monday: The Porter's came over for lunch and playtime. We had such a fun visit and so excited about them moving closer to us soon. Carl and I enjoyed a night out for our anniversary. Going out on a Monday makes the week seem really long. Tuesday: Evie went to camp and Henry enjoyed some time with Mommy. I cannot remember what we did but it sure was nice to just have one child for the day. We played outside with our boys. Evie went to bed early since she does not nap away from home. Wednesday: Back to camp for Evie and Henry helped me do a few projects around the house. I went to Moms Night Out at Sol in Franklin. It was delicious. Margaritas, scallops and a messy sundae made for a fabulous night. Thursday: Morning came way too early and I needed a fountain coke by 10 AM. Evie went to camp and Henry stayed home with his sitter while I went to the doctor and for my hair appointment. I had to leave the salon with wet hair so that I'd be on time to pick up my sweet girl. Henry was exhausted when I arrived home and it took me forever to get him to sleep so I was not too thrilled when he took a super short nap. I loaded the kids up for a quick trip to Michael's. There is no such thing as a quick trip to Michael's. Evie and Henry were excellent there is just something about that store that takes a few years off my life. Carl was in Chatanooga so we were in our own. Both kids were in bed and asleep by 7. Henry was up screaming for over an hour. Poor thing was not happy at all! Friday: We met Courtney and her boys at the pool. It was crazy but fun. Campbell and Evie decided to run the opposite direction from the rest of us. I reprimanded Evie and she told me that it was so fun running with Campbell. Oh dear, she gives me a run for my money. We did a grocery pick up, ate lunch and then it was nap time.Henry did not sleep long even after two hours at the pool.He wanted to practice walking instead of wasting time on a nap. I met Carl at the Honda dealership and then we picked up our computer. Power cord for the computer is in our van so hopefully we will be back in business tomorrow. Blogging fromatablet is not easy. By the time we put the kids to sleep, it seemed like way too much work to prepare dinner. Frozen pizza worked just fine. We are looking forward to a weekend without any plans. Happy Friday, y'all!

Kicking the Coke Can

There's nothing better than a cold coke over ice in a glass over ice. That's always been my treat and it quickly became a habit while coping with sleep deprivation as a tired mother with two young children. Henry is sleeping better so I decided to give up coke for ten days. Anticipating giving up the coke was way worse than actually skipping out on the coke. It really was not that bad. Club soda gave me carbonation without calories or caffeine. I slept better and felt better while abstaining from coke. Everything in moderation is my motto for food and drink. I have had two cokes after my ten days without coke were complete. Shockingly, my beloved beverage did not seem that fabulous. Now, give me a fountain coke and that's a total game changer. Fountain Coke is the
perfect beverage- bubbly, sweet and the perfect complement to a lunchtime sandwich. It makes me wonder what else is just habit. Things that have just become part of my life without me even thinking about. Who knew that my frosty red can could give me so much to ponder.

7 Years in Numbers

Carl and I are celebrating our 7th anniversary. Every day, I am so thankful for Carl. He is the kindest man that I have ever known, always in a great mood, works tirelessly to provide for our family without complaint and loves the three of us in a really big way. Numbers on our marriage . . . 7: Years of marital bliss filled with much more joy than sorrow. Lots of fun, plenty of disagreements, tons of laughs and never ending adventure. 6: Disposals in our kitchen! I have a tendency to break our disposal and then Carl installs a new one. That's marriage, taking the other persons strengths and using them to make life better. 5: Vacations to St. Lucia, Jamaica, Mexico, Amelia Island and lots of beach trips. 4: Parents that are still married providing us with a real example of 'til death do us part." 3: Houses in Raleigh, Charlotte and Nashville. Selling two houses and buying three houses is always an adventure and a tremendous exercise in compromise. 2: Children that are the very best of both of us. Evelyn Claire and Henry Conrad bring us more joy and frustration than we ever imagined. They demonstrate unconditional love and encourage us to love each other. 1: Love that grows daily and changes as we change. It seems like yesterday that we were married without a clue of all that marriage entails. We have figured it out and look forward to many, many wonderful years to come.
