Living Room or Playroom?

I have been pondering turning my living room into a playroom. What are your thoughts? We do not use our living room as a formal living area except at Christmas. Evie watches movies in "the red couch room" as she calls it and we put her large toys in there on a rotation. I am pretty sure that Evie has already made the decision for us.

  1. I think that's a great idea, especially since it's on the first floor. Our playroom will be upstairs so I have a feeling that will still result in toys in the family room. Our living room will be more of an office to get a little more use out of it.

  2. I think all families with babies must have a living room like this! That's how our living room looks anyway... I've stopped trying to fight it.

Someone gave my kids that lawn mower toy that's in your pictures and it drove me crazy! We had to get rid of it. :)

  3. I'm a big fan of the playroom! It's such a fun kids' space. Ours is also on the main floor, just off the great room and kitchen. It's the perfect place to keep lots of toys and keep the kids in sight. We also have a change table and laundry basket in there for convenience!

  4. Do y'all have another living area, like a den? Just curious about the rest of the set up!

  6. YES! unfortunately, our house has ZERO space, so we turned our formal dining room into the playroom. not my first choice, but it definitely helps keep the mess contained....most days.

  7. I vote yes. Less time keeping that room straightend up means more time for other things. We would gladly turn our living room & dining room into bedrooms for Evie and Henry. Then you and my favorite SIL could have more space!

  8. I agree that you should totally turn it into a playroom! I think it is great that it is on the first floor and because of that you might even be able to keep all the toys in the new playroom and leave your family room as more of a "toy free" zone if you wanted.
