"Punzeling"

We have had a busy two days! I expected this week to be busy but it really has been a lot. Yesterday, we had our friends, the Onello's over for lunch. Evie and Abby played in the backyard while the babies stayed in the den. I LOVE having a portion of our yard fenced in so that Evie has a safe, open place to play. It's enough space for her to feel free but I can still see her and hear her from right inside the house.

I had Mom's Night Out last night. It was my first one since Henry was born so that was a real treat to get out for a bit. Evie was asleep before I left and Henry was still awake when I got home. Carl had fed him but kept him up for some bonding. We stayed up too late and morning came early at our house.

Evie had school and then Carl and I headed to meet with our minister regarding Henry's baptism. It's always nice to have a chance to get to know your minister a little better. Carl thinks that that Jerry is quite intelligent. Carl and I had time to swing by Chick fil A for a quick lunch. It felt so different without Evie. Henry enjoyed being our only child for a bit.

Henry had his 4 month appointment this morning. He weighs 16 pounds and 7 ounces and is 26 inches long. That puts him in the 75% for both and his growth curve is excellent. Dr. K was thrilled to hear that I took Henry off his medicine and agreed that I should remain dairy-free to keep his symptoms from  worsening.

Evie had a blast at school. She had so much that she required a complete change of clothes! I love seeing all the little projects that she makes. Evie came home with a Thanksgiving place mat and an Indian hat. She told me not to drive too fast because she did not want it to fall off.

Henry was ready for a nap after his shots so that gave me a chance to play with Evie outside. She is so imaginative with her play. It's amazing how so much can change in just a few weeks. Courtney is letting me borrow a child harness for the airport next week. Evie is infatuated with it and kept telling me that was "punzeling" - that's pretending to be Rapunzel. She'd climb up on chairs and let down her long hair. Her long hair happened to be a leash but that's okay. It was so fun to watch her so engaged in pretend play. Evie "punzeled" for hours today so that may be one of our new favorite activities.

It gets dark so early now! That's my least favorite part about fall. Carl got home right before dark and took Evie jogging. He encourages Evie to run beside him in the park and she is always ready to participate. It really tires her out.

Henry tried rice cereal for the first time tonight. Evie was so excited to feed him. Be sure to notice that Evie has no idea about portion control on the spoon. She piled cereal on there and expected him to eat it. Henry liked it much more than Evie did at this age. I am not planning to give it to him much because it's a bit of nuisance. Food is just for fun the first year anyway but Henry liked it so much that we may try it again soon. We had a quick dinner of leftovers, bathed the kids and got them tucked in all before 7 which is always nice for the parents. Maybe I can catch up on some laundry!

  1. I love what these little minds come up with. That will hopefully be a help to you in the airport. Glad Henry enjoyed his cereal though I agree it's kind of a pain. It's interesting to think about doing all this the 2nd time and already feel more laid-back about it.
