Weekend Wrap-up: Pumpkins, Sickies and DIY

Another weekend gone by . . . too fast as always!

Saturday: Henry woke up at 6:30 which seemed great after three mornings of a 5:30 wake up call! Stomach bug was back to visit me so I spent most of the day in bed. Evie started feeling badly right after lunch so she crawled into bed with me. Carl held down the fort with the kids, made a gingerale run and handled the chaos. Our cable is finally working again! YEAH!!! I went to bed with the children while Carl watched football.

Sunday: It felt great to wake up after so many hours of sleep. Carl took his turn to sleep in while I took over with the kids. Evie and I went on a girls trip to Target and Krispy Kreme since we were still not too sure about the church nursery after all of our sickness. Everyone was much better though! Carl and Henry went on a jog after Henry's nap. We all felt good after lunch with no more sickies. It was pumpkin patch time. Evie was quite disappointed that we did not make it to Gentry Farm's yesterday so today was our day. Both kids really loved it! Carl and I are shocked that this was our fourth visit to the farm. We never live anywhere long enough to savor four pumpkin seasons. Evie was enamored with the cows and Henry liked playing with the corn in the tables. We all enjoyed a stroll through the patch. Henry and Evie were so funny picking out their pumpkins. Evie wanted the "perfect dumply pumpkin" and Henry just carted every pumpkin that he could carry into the wagon. It was a nice day to be outside and a fun family outing for us all. Evie took great care in placing the pumpkins on our front step in just the perfect manner. We have 17 pumpkins at our house now! That's a perfect amount, no more pumpkins needed. Both kids were ready for bed after our adventure at Gentry. Carl showed me his crafty side by covering Evie's crown with fabric. Are you thinking? "What's a crown?" That's what Evie calls her headboard! Everything has a princess twist in our house.

Hope you had a great weekend!

  2. So glad you're feeling better!!! Stomach bugs are no fun! The farm sounds like fun! We camped outside of Gatlinburg this past week and visited Kyker Farms which sounds similar. TN sure is beautiful this time of year!!! What a nice place to call home!
