Evie and I completed our second day in a row at home. It's so cold and just not worth getting out of the warm house with a coughing toddler. Evie slept late which helped the day get off to a good start. We had a fun morning together reading books under the Christmas tree and drinking our tea together. Evie thinks she has tea when I put a splash of my tea with her milk. It's one way to get a little milk in her belly. Evie really enjoys looking through all the Christmas cards and can point out some people that she knows.
She is coughing so much at night but seems okay during the day. Maybe a little calmer. She sat in the den and watched Sid the Science Guy while I cleaned the kitchen. That's major progress for her since she likes to be accompanied by her mother at all times. We hold hands to walk from room to room. She's a sweet girl and loves to be close. It's so adorable because when we are reading to her or eating a snack, she usually rests one hand on our leg or arm.
Naptime was a bit of an adventure. Evie kept saying, "Mommy Out." She was not tired but naptime is not optional in our house. Although, I know that day is near. I worked with her for about 30 minutes and then rocked her. Shockingly, she fell asleep in my arms. It was so sweet and I just loved holding her while listening to her little snores. She sounded like a little puppy. I put her down in the crib and she slept until almost 4.
We played with play-dough, colored some pictures and did a few projects after naptime. Evie helped me put the electric blanket on our bed. It's been so cold lately that it's time for the toasty blanket. Evie was excited to get some new Christmas books from her Aunt Libby in the mail. She loves the one that reads when you push the button.
Evie spotted the cookies on the counter and decided that she HAD to have one before dinner and was not too pleased when I did not agree with her. I tried to convince her that waiting until after dinner would be the best idea. She finally settled down enough to eat her chicken pot pie and broccoli. Evie was thrilled to get her peanut butter cup cookie although she wanted the peanut butter cup "OUT" of the cookie. That did not leave too much cookie left but that did not seem to bother her at all.
Evie went right to sleep after her warm shower and I have been working on our Christmas cards. We love this picture of Evie but chose a different one for our card. Evie looks so pretty in her dress and the memories of the crazy photo shoot have already faded away.

This is such a sweet picture of Evie!
ReplyDeleteThat picture is GORGEOUS!! Love Evie's dress! Sorry she hasn't been feeling too well. Libbi has had a cough, too and we went to the dr. yesterday for an ear infection. It makes for LOOOOOONG days when we are stuck inside (and Jeffrey's out of town!) :(
ReplyDeleteHope Evie is feeling better soon....and btw, I am SO glad to know that someone else has an "active" toddler, too! Your comments always make me feel so much better! :)
I love the picture - such a sweet expression on such a pretty girl!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet picture! I hope you will post your Christmas card photo once you get them sent out. I can't believe someone told you that black shoes weren't for little girls. I say a classic black shoe looks much better on a sweet girl than some of the options now.
ReplyDeleteYour days sound so very sweet! I can't get over how absolutely GORGEOUS she is!
ReplyDeleteThat is the most adorable picture. She is BEAUTIFUL (just like her Mama)!!!
