We are still having a great time at the beach. Evie loves all of this attention and is having so much fun. We have gone out to dinner the past two nights. Last night, was not really that good but they had a great salad bar and Evie munched up a bunch of little baby corn. She thought those were quite tasty. Carl and I are pretty cautious about taking Evie out to dinner. We arm ourselves with snacks, toys, and will do whatever it takes to keep her entertained. Evie decided it'd be really fun to throw each and every piece of her food onto the floor because a little girl was watching Evie. That little girl thought Evie was hysterical which made Evie so very happy. Not sure why this bothered us since there were lots of other kids around us acting pretty crazy. One little boy about 3 years old was standing up in his highchair pretending to be some type of Ninja with his knife. He made Evie look like a little angel so I appreciated his presence at dinner.
We have been spending a lot of time on the beach. Evie loves the birds and runs after them trying to catch them. Silly girl has not learned that flying birds are always faster than running toddlers. It's so cute to see her in action. Carl digs holes for Evie and then she climbs in and out of them. All of this activity wears our little girl out. She took a 4 hour nap this afternoon and we had to wake her up to go out exploring. Let's hope she still sleeps tonight. It's definitely more of a challenge to get her to sleep here than it is at home but each night she gets better or maybe she's just exhausted.
We rode down to Daytona this afternoon to see what all the fuss is about. It's nice but not our style. Carl was thrilled to see the speedway and we were surprised that it was literally right on the side of the road. They had tour buses going in and out of that place like you would not believe. Evie thought that the beach store was really fun since it was filled with lots of balls and mannequins. She really liked the mannequins even more than the aquarium filled with fish. Evie wore her cute new ladybug outfit from her Aunt Lindsay. Doesn't she look so cute?
We decided to have dinner at a restaurant on a river. It was delicious! We sat outside which was a little warmer than we may have preferred but Evie did great! She made a little friend that was 18 months old too and they chatted together. Evie is infatuated with the word "HI" and says it pretty much constantly to anyone and everyone that she crosses her path. I had scallops for dinner and Carl had fried shrimp - both were excellent. It was Kid's Night so Evie got to eat for free although she was so busy checking out the scenery that she ate about two pieces of penne, one mini-muffin and a hush puppy. Evie loved checking out the fish on the dock and some people even spotted an alligator while we were eating our dinner. We all shared a piece of Key Lime pie for dessert.
